How to Hit to Your Perfect Weight

Get long, strong and lean in the great outdoors.

It would be all too easy trot out the old clichés. That it’s almost August, that you want a ‘beach body’ and that you want it now – no matter how much blood, sweat and tears it takes you to get there.

Call us greedy, but we here at ELEMIS HQ believe that whether it’s your health, fitness or beauty regimen in question, you can get both instant results and play the long game, without starvation, deprivation and a never-ending journey to planet misery.

Which is why we asked Personal Trainer to the stars, founder of Freedom2Train Steve Mellor to tailor make a fitness plan that not only gets you your August beach body pronto – but that also promises long term gains in terms of your overall body performance.

The science part:

The below plan is based upon the theory of HIIT – or high-intensity interval training. The idea is that by alternating stints of high-intensity anaerobic exercise with periods of less intense recovery within one short overall workout, the body reaps more fat burning and fitness level gains than if you simply slogged it out on a long, steady run. The upshot is that you get maximum results in the minimum amount of time.

The sweat part:

Set aside 20 minute.

Spend 5 minutes warming up by running or skipping, then:

Phase 1

Complete 5 rounds of the following:

  • 60s burpees
  • 60s squats
  • 60s plank
  • Rest 60 seconds

Phase 2 (you’ll need a 1.5 litre or 2 litre bottle of water as hand weights).

On the minute, every minute complete:

  • 10 squat press
  • 10 mountain climbers

Rest for 4 minutes. Then:

On the minute, every minute complete:

  • 10 walking lunges (water bottle over head the whole time)
  • 10 plank push ups

Stretch, cool down and congratulate yourself on being one step closer to peak body performance.
