Of all the skincare steps, cleansing seems the most straight forward. It’s a staple we assume twice a day, every day, and seems to leave little room for error. But as arguably the most important skincare step, we’ve compiled a few tips to help you get the most out of our hero cleanser Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm.
Massage as you apply
While you might only have a few seconds to cleanse, make them matter. Start by massaging in upward motions along your jaw from your chin to your ears to work your muscles into contracting against gravity. The Cleansing Balm starts life as an oil so has a lovely slip quality – perfect for massage. Gently work your way up the rest of skin to your forehead, still in upward motions and then remove with the warm damp cloth.
Don’t forget a morning cleanse
It’s easy to forgo a morning cleanse considering it was likely to be the last thing you did before sleeping but it’s so important. Overnight skin is at its busiest restoring which means it pushes out a lot of toxins to the surface. A splash of water in the shower isn’t enough so it’s crucial you clear away toxins with a thorough cleanse.
The balm is full of essential oils so inhale as you apply to breath in the aromatic scent. The notes of menthol and eucalyptus are just what your body needs to wake up in the morning working as much healthier substitute to caffeine.
Work harder on collective areas
Not all parts of your skin can be treated the same. When you’re massaging in the cleansing balm, pay special attention to collective areas (chins, eye brows and jaw line) where make-up tends to stick too. Use the tips of pads on your fingers to work the balm in circular motions before rinsing. Also, don’t forget to work it down your neck.
Wash the cloth
You might be rinsing it with water after every use, but a warm damp wash cloth is a breeding ground for bacteria. We’d recommend laundering every 2-3 days (the cloths are 100% cotton so a regular wash is fine).
