ELEMIS Book Club: Behind Her Eyes

6th January 2017

Behind Her Eyes

This psychological thriller from Sarah Pinborough (author of The Language of Dying) has caused quite an internet frenzy before it has even been released. In the vein of Gone Girl but with a double twist that can’t be predicted, this genre-defying novel will have you guessing until the end as you race through its pages.

Focusing on a pretty conventional love triangle between psychiatrist David, his perfect but slightly strange wife, Adele, and single mum Louise (who is David’s new secretary), the plot appears fairly straightforward. However, as Louise gets to know them both, she suspects there’s more than meets the eye to this seemingly ideal couple, and questions about David’s controlling nature and Adele’s secrecy draw Louise further into the web. It’s difficult to share much more without giving the story away so we’ll leave it at that. Happy reading!

Behind Her Eyes is a dark, electrifying page-turner with a corker of an ending. Sarah Pinborough is about to become your new obsession’ Harlan Coben

'The strongest, most unsettling thriller of the year, with a final twist destined to provoke arguments for years to come. Read it now before someone spoils the ending for you'
John Connolly
