This year, ELEMIS is marking International Women’s Day by supporting a very special campaign.
Women for Women International is a charity which supports women survivors of war to rebuild their lives. Their 12-month training programme equips women with an understanding of their value in family and community life; awareness of their rights; information about nutrition, reproductive health, hygiene and other basic health care. Women also learn vital skills to help them earn an income, and receive a monthly stipend to cover their basic needs and allow them the opportunity to start saving money for the future.
Ahead of this year’s International Women’s Day on Thursday 8th March, we’re getting involved in Women for Women International’s #MessageToMySister initiative, which allows you to send a message of support to women survivors of war through their website. We know how powerful it is to hear these words: you are not alone. That’s why this crucial campaign aims to send a very special delivery to conflict-affected communities around the world, reaching hundreds of women isolated by violence and insecurity. Your messages will tell our sisters around the world that they’ve got an ally they’ve never met, on the other side of the world – someone who shares her hopes and believes in her abilities: to rebuild her life, return to her home and give her children a brighter future.
From 6th to 8th March, every time you share a message and tag @Elemis including #MessageToMySister via social media, we will donate £1 to the charity*. You also have the chance to show your support by donating £1 to Women for Women International at checkout throughout March.
So start preparing your message now, and join us in solidarity with our sisters around the world.
*up to the value of £5000.
