ELEMIS has a longstanding relationship with Breast Cancer Care dating back to 2002. Each year we unveil a new pink product or collection to show our support and raise funds. But the bright pink packaging also serves as a daily reminder, a mental Post-It note, to do a regular self-check – the earlier a lump is detected, the easier it is to treat.
Recently ELEMIS Marketing Director, Oriele Frank, and Global Head of Marketing, Jane Moran, attended a corporate thanking ceremony which really highlighted the work that the charity does. Speakers included Breast Cancer Care’s CEO, Samia Al Qadhi, Clinical Director Emma Pennery plus very special guest, Jackie Scully, who talked about her personal experience of breast cancer. It was inspiring to hear about the organisation’s dedicated efforts to provide people with accurate information and advice, and also to hear directly from Jackie who had benefitted from BCC’s support from the very start of her diagnosis. In a move that surprised even Jackie, she decided to run a 10K race just days before her final chemo session. Running helped Jackie take control during cancer treatment, Jackie now runs marathons fundraising for Breast Cancer Care.
With three half marathons under her belt and the 2016 London Marathon completed, Jackie is testament to just what is possible with the support of an organisation like Breast Cancer Care. The charity helped her make treatment decisions, provided her with valuable advice that 10-minute hospital consultations could not always provide, and put her in touch with like-minded people who have turned out to be friends for life.
