Much more than a mere metal, it’s essential for our health and well-being…

You know it as a chemical element. It’s in televisions, radios, washing machines and electrical wires. There are apparently 179,000 pounds of it in the Statue of Liberty. And since you ask, it’s atomic number is 29 and its symbol in the Periodic Table is Cu.

Copper is everywhere – but beyond household goods and famous landmarks, it also plays a key role in maintaining our overall health and well-being. No wonder the health and beauty industry has hailed it a super nutrient for 2016…

Find it: In foods such as sesame seeds, oysters, cashew nuts, shitake mushrooms, liver and avocado. Within the body, the highest levels are to be found in the brain and the liver.

It safeguards hair and eyes: As a component of the natural pigment, melanin, copper helps prevent our hair from going grey – and maintains the bright colour of our eyes as we age.

It protects skin: As a potent anti-oxidant, copper helps slow down and reverse the aging effects of free radicals on the skin structure. So your complexion stays more youthful for longer.

It harmonises the body: According to Ayurvedic medicine, copper balances the three doshas (the energy systems said to govern our individual physiology). Which is why practitioners drink water from a copper cup that apparently, gives it a negative charge to bring the body’s energy systems back into line.

It’s best friends with iron and zinc: All three work synergistically to control tissue repair, elastin growth and red blood cell formation.

Highly beneficial on the inside, copper also plays a vital role in ensuring skin is energised and vibrant on the outside. The NEW Energising Skincare System, BIOTEC, contains encapsulated Zinc and Copper that switches skin back on and helps restore it’s natural vitality.
