Throughout this month, we’ve been following the inspirational work of an organisation dedicated to helping women improve their own quality of life in the most poverty and war-stricken countries: Women for Women International.
Now, having been uplifted by the stories of women like Mukonondo, Tabu and Claudette, and heard what motivates Executive Director, Brita Fernandez Schmidt, we asked some of the organisation’s celebrity ambassadors to reveal who inspires them…
Zara Martin, Model and DJ:
“The woman that inspires me is Brita Fernandez Schmidt from Women for Women International UK.”
Thomasina Miers, Entrepreneur:
“I grew up idolising my grandmother, who was from Tennessee. She ended up with no money but was indefatigable in the face of life’s knocks, always up for fun, up for a party. I inherited her wardrobe from her modelling days and still wear it today. I loved her zest for life.”
Alice Temperley, Designer:
“I’m very inspired by the people behind the #SheInspiresMe campaign and the dedication and support they have put in to teaching women how to survive in the toughest environments. This campaign makes life-changing differences to women around the world whose situation is often unimaginable to Westerners.”
June Sarpong, TV Presenter:
“The woman that inspires me is a wonderful woman called Baroness McDonagh, who’s been a mentor of mine for many years. She’s one of the most powerful women in British politics. She’s so down-to-earth and really nurtures the next generation. I think that’s what women have to do for each other. We have to support each other. And that’s why I’m involved in this awesome campaign.”
In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, ELEMIS has created a Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Ultra-Rich that’s been inscribed with Women for Women International’s campaign strapline: ‘She Inspires Me’.
