For ultimate skin protection and hydration in the winter months it is important that you adapt your skincare routine with a few simple steps.

 

Simply changing your moisturiser to a richer formulation can make all the difference in the look and feel of your skin. If you have been using Pro-Collagen Marine Cream during the summer maybe switch to Pro-Collagen Marine Cream Ultra-Rich for the winter, this will help prevent your skin from becoming dry and flaky as the Ultra-Rich has a more nourishing base. The same goes for your cleanser if you've been using a foaming cleanser or more of a lotion then switch to a cream or balm texture this will help to soften and hydrate the skin.

A favourite tip of mine is to add SOS Emergency Cream to your routine as this will ensure your skin stays protected. Avocado and Kanuba Wax help to shield the skin from the extreme elements, combined with Lavender to soothe, balance and hydrate, for that added boost mix with Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. Add an anti-ageing kick by introducing a serum like Pro-Collagen Super Serum Elixir or Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules to recharge the look and feel of your skin.

It is important that we take as much care of our body as we do the face so exfoliation is key to ensure the skin on your body looks great at the end of winter. Skin Nourishing Body Scrub makes exfoliation a pleasurable experience and will help with cell turnover and repair. Regular exfoliation will also remove those tired dead skin cells so when you apply your favourite ELEMIS moisturiser or ELEMIS body oil within the first few minutes after showering, you are locking in moisture to the fresh new skin cells.

 

Changing your bathing routine will also help with the condition of your skin, so if possible try to avoid boiling hot baths or showers.

 

There’s nothing more comforting on a cold winter day than to soak in a hot bath with Jasmine and Rose Milk Bath or a steamy shower of Frangipani Monoi Shower Cream, but these habits may contribute to excessively dry skin and will damage the collagen and elastin fibres as well as break down the important lipid barriers that preserve the skin’s moisture. The best advice I would give is restrict showers to less than 5 -10 minutes, use lukewarm water and apply your body moisturiser or body oil directly after bathing or showering whilst skin is damp, and always use your ELEMIS Bath Milks or Shower Creams to leave the skin well moisturised. If you are finding your skin is particularly dry then apply a body moisturiser daily on top of your Frangipani Monoi Body Oil to trap and lock in the moisture. The Frangipani Monoi is great for this as they’re rich in nourishment and hydration and work beautifully over the oil.

To keep dry hands at bay, massage your Frangipani Monoi Body Oil into the hands and nails and then apply your Jasmine and Rose Hand and Nail Cream liberally then pop on some cotton gloves and leave on overnight for an intense hand and nail treatment.

Remember that there will be an end to the winter months when those bodies will be revealed, the skin on your face will be make-up free, so let’s look after that now and not wait until we realise we have neglected ourselves over the winter months.
