It hates flying:
Cabin air can be between 20 and 50% drier than regular air, so it’s no wonder that we often step off a flight with skin that looks dry, puffy and dull.
First, drink lots of water – dehydration causes the body to retain water, thereby causing puffiness. Then, skip the heavy face cream (it could lead to greasiness) and instead, layer accordingly or apply a hydrating oil to replace lost moisture. Using sunscreen is a must too if you’re sitting next to a window seat and are exposed to the sun at high altitude, where the rays are more intense.
It suffers from sun exposure:
Talking about sun protection, most of us are savvy enough to stop our face becoming actually burnt. We know all too well that it could lead to premature ageing and risks skin cancer. Far more insidious, the amount of exposure our skin has, even to low level sun, could show up on your face – next week, in a year’s time or even in a decade’s time. And whilst we often protect our face, what we fail to realise is that even exposing our body to sunlight can cause pigmentation to appear on our face as well.
Wear sunscreen – regularly. Ensure you apply it to your face, neck and all over your body if you want to avoid facial pigmentation and fine lines.
It sweats more:
Sweating is the body’s natural response when it needs to offset an increase in temperature. But when sweat mixes with oil produced by your skin’s sebum glands – not to mention sunscreen, make-up and particles circulating in the air – your pores can become clogged, leading to spots.

The sudden change in your diet, as well as the surge in less than healthy foods, can trigger flare-ups that range from spots to sensitivity and rosacea.
Limit anything you wouldn’t normally eat to once a day – then counteract the negative effects by ensuring you get a good supply of fruit and vegetables. Avocado, pomegranate, berries, tomatoes and oily fish – all usually found in abundance in hot climates – are great, skin-boosting foods to help you return home glowing.
