Gardening is having a bit of a moment and with the official start of summer just days away many of us will be flocking to our gardens to make the most of the long days and warm nights. We’ve asked Rachel de Thame for her top tips to get your garden ready for those summer days – that you can do with a Pimms in your hand!
Keep on top of watering in dry weather, or after potting new plants. Try and water either in the morning or the evening, allow plants to soak up moisture before the hottest part of the day.
Replace any cracked or broken pots and give them a clean. If you’re feeling crafty maybe even give new pots a lick of paint before moving the plants over.
A garden immediately looks cared-for if the lawn is neat. So putting the Pimms on hold, and mowing and clipping the edges is worth doing if you have guests coming and no time to do anything else.
Clean any patio and decking with a pressure-washer to quickly blast away any dirt that’s built up over. It’ll be sparkling clean and neat looking in no time!
